Peel 11 Year Old Earns his place at top North West Dance and Performing Arts School The Hammond in Chester.

Local Peel Boy Sam Baxter has danced his way into the Hammond School of Dance in Chester commencing September 2012.  Sams interest in Dance started when he watched his friend Breeshey and her dance school friends from Genas Dance Academy dance at Twnwald fair 3 years ago.  After starting Modern his passion was for Ballet and 2 years ago despite his mothers concern over the stigma with ballet for boys, Sam was adamant to study ballet with his teacher Gena Turpin and also studied Tap with his teacher Sarah Smith.

As well as dancing Sam has appeared both as Chorus and a Principal in 3 Peel Pantaloons Productions so a big thank you also to Ben Heath, Barbara Quilliam and Mel Read as these roles gave him the confidence to participate in Shows such as Bugsy Malone at the Gaiety so a big thank you also to Gary Chatel, James Turpin, Gena Turpin and Jude Fullerton.

Thanks also go out to the Admiral Feteris Foundation for Young People and also the Isle of Man Arts Council for providing their support .

Gena Turpin, Sam's Dance teacher added:-

“ Sam is a delightful dance student and a pleasure to teach. His talent, enthusiasm and positive outlook on life will get him far and I am proud to say he is a pupil of mine.   Sam will be thoroughly missed by all of us at Gena’s Dance Academy we are very proud of his achievement and wish him the best of luck.”
