The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association is looking for two chartered physiotherapists to accompany Team Isle of Man athletes to the 2014 Games in Glasgow. The CGA is inviting expressions of interest in the post to be submitted before August 31, 2012, and it is expected that the successful candidate will be appointed before the end of September this year.
Juliet Holt, President of the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association, said: “The chartered physiotherapists will provide the very best care for our athletes who are selected for Glasgow 2014. This will be on a part-time basis after the team has been selected in May 2014, and full-time when the team arrives in Glasgow on July 17, 2014, and for the duration of the Games until August 4, 2014.”
During the period of cover prior to the 2014 Games the physiotherapists will treat injured athletes and will be paid per treatment session. There is no payment for the period spent at the Games, but accommodation, travel, Team Isle of Man sports apparel, and food will all be provided free of charge. Juliet Holt added: “The Commonwealth Games is the highest sporting stage on which our competitors can represent the Isle of Man and being involved either as a competitor or support staff is a great honour. I hope that this opportunity will attract the Island’s very best chartered physiotherapists who wish to help our talented sportsmen and sportswomen achieve their goals.”
Applications from individual physiotherapists will not be considered, but the roles may suit physiotherapists with their own practice or those employed within the NHS. The two successful applicants do not have to work at the same practice, but they must be able to work together and as part of the Medical Team which supports the Isle of Man’s Commonwealth Games squad and have experience in treating sports injuries.
