Sleepwell Hotels Staff complete International Management Course

by isleofman.com 16th July 2012

Colleagues at Sleepwell hotels based across the Isle of Man have been celebrating recently following a series of successes in the BTEC Level 3 Management course. Heads of Department at both The Claremont and The Rutland hotels undertook the programme, in conjunction with three lecturers from the Isle of Man College, from November 2011 through to March 2012. The course provides graduates with a thorough understanding of the key concepts and practical skills required of management level staff in the contemporary hospitality industry, which represents an ever changing and increasingly complex undertaking.

Consisting of four key units as well as a work based project, the course programme tested candidates on the key principles of management and leadership, improving your own leadership performance, managing the delivery of customer service, and appraising and developing staff.

The nine colleagues enjoyed full sponsorship from Sleepwell Hotels throughout the five months as part of an ongoing initiative aimed at ensuring that both managers and their teams are furnished with the experience and expertise necessary to accommodate the transition from a 3-star to a 4-star, boutique hotel. These newly acquired skills will be implemented to push the boundaries and further improve upon Sleepwell Hotels’ already excellent reputation for service standards. The investment forms part of a larger Sleepwell initiative which, over the last 18 months, has seen a series of major financial investments in their Island based hotels and has resulted in numerous awards for both customer service and interior design.

Linda Maddrell, Human Resources Manager at Sleepwell Hotels, commented on the exam success: “On behalf of Sleepwell Hotels, I would like to congratulate our management team on this fantastic achievement. The management course they undertook is part of our ongoing drive to further enhance the excellent standards of service represented by our awards. We hope that by providing this supported learning for our managers, it will enable them to them to reflect upon how they have previously managed themselves and their teams to acquire even more positive results.”

Mark Wilson, Managing Director of Sleepwell Hotels added: “We are keen to continuously further our investment in the Isle of Man by providing a high standard of service to our customers.  Our recent ?1 million renovation of our local hotel facilities is a testament to this and we hope to add value even further over the coming years.”
