Local Junior Archer to be an Olympic "Young Gamesmaker"

by isleofman.com 17th July 2012

The Isle of Man Archery Club are pleased to announce that one of their Junior archers, 16 year old Adam Wright, who lives in Royal Avenue, Onchan, will be representing the Club at the 2012 Olympics in London at the end of this month.

However, Adam will not be competing in the Archery Competition, but is honoured to be taking part as one of the Young Gamesmakers for the Archery event at the Games which will be staged at Lords Cricket Ground. Last year Adam volunteered for this role and was delighted to be invited to take part and attended the Test Event held at Lords in October.  He has travelled to London a couple of times since this and has now completed his training and will leave the Island early next week to join his team. He will be one of the team of youngsters who will be ferrying shot arrows back to the competitors during the competition.

Last month, following an invitation from Mr Henry Da Silva, Adam was also given the opportunity of carrying an Olympic Torch when it was paraded in Ramsey.
