Fire crews from Douglas station were initially called to provide fire cover for a helicopter landing at Noble Hospital, which was transporting an injured fisherman to Hospital having received severe chest inquiries at sea.
Due to the severity of the injuries to the fisherman the R.A.F Paramedic decided not to winch the casualty of the fishing vessel but to head for Peel breakwater and transfer the casualty to a land Ambulance from there.
Peel fire crews were mobilised to provide fire cover for the helicopter landing on the beach in peel so they could collect the Paramedic winch man along with his specialised equipment.
Dedicated Special appliances were mobilised from Douglas Fire Station to assist both Coast Guards and Paramedics with transferring the casualty of the fishing vessel in a safe and controlled manner using the Fire Service Aerial ladder platform.
The casualty with the aid of extra pain relief was assisted to the waiting ambulance and transferred to Nobles Hospital for treatment. The condition of the casualty is not known at this time.
