The Department of Home Affairs is seeking to recruit a new Chief Constable to head the Isle of Man Constabulary for the next five years.
Current Chief Constable Mike Langdon is retiring in December after a distinguished career in the top post in the Manx police force.
His successor will be tasked with maintaining the Department’s strong focus on community policing and enhancing the Island’s reputation as one of the safest places to live in the British Isles.
There will also be a requirement to deliver a high standard of public service within the Isle of Man Government’s current budgetary constraints.
The new Chief Constable will be appointed on a five-year contract and will help to shape the future policing strategy for the Island.
Applications are being sought from experienced officers who have served in the rank of Superintendent or above for a minimum of two years.
Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson MHK said: ‘The Department is looking for an exceptional candidate to continue the positive work that has taken place over recent years. Strong leadership will be essential to drive forward what is a dynamic, proactive and complex organisation. The next five years will be a particularly challenging period for the Department and the Isle of Man Constabulary. As Government continues to rebalance public finances, the next Chief Constable will be expected to deliver a quality service against a backdrop of budgetary restraint.’
Chief Executive Officer Mark Kelly added: ‘The Department of Home Affairs is committed to maintaining the excellent quality of life we all enjoy in the Island, and the police have a fundamental part to play in that. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to take up the challenge of this exciting and rewarding role – one which provides an opportunity to make an important contribution to Island life.’
Application forms and information packs can be requested from Janet Ferran at the Department of Home Affairs on 631546 or by email at
