Businesses invited to attend Employment and Skills 2012

by isleofman.com 1st August 2012
Employers are invited to apply for a stand at Employment and Skills 2012, the Isle of Man’s largest event highlighting work and training opportunities.  It will take place at the Villa Marina, Douglas, on Thursday 22nd November and is jointly hosted by the Departments of Economic Development and Education and Children.

Employment and Skills 2012 provides an opportunity for employers and jobseekers wanting to develop their employability skills to discuss current vacancies, future opportunities and training they need to enter professions.  It presents the perfect opportunity for businesses to market their company, to engage with and give vital support to people currently seeking work.

Around 1,000 secondary school students will attend the event to discuss career options.

Tony Wild MLC, Political Member for the Department of Economic Development with responsibility for Employment and Skills, said:  ‘This event is about employers and training providers giving advice and practical support for those seeking jobs and for people looking to learn more skills to improve their employability.  Events of this nature are essential for the Isle of Man, especially in this current economic climate, and I would encourage organisations to apply for a stand at this most worthwhile and important event.

‘The support from local employers has been very positive in previous years and the event will provide an excellent opportunity for people to come along to find out about jobs on the Island and the range of help and support that is available to them.’

The exhibition will be open from 9am to 7pm on 22nd November and exhibitors will be required to set up stands between 12 noon and 6pm on Wednesday 21st November. Lunch will be prepared and served by Hospitality and Catering students of the Isle of Man College for ?5 per person for those companies exhibiting.

If you would like further information on this exciting opportunity application forms must be submitted by Friday 31st August 2012 and are available through the Department of Economic Development’s website
