Daisy the Cow has had a facelift and returned to the familiar pastures of Isle of Man Airport where she has greeted travellers for almost 10 years. Daisy has sat in the airport lounge since 2003 when the CowParade charity auction raised ?110,000. The auction benefited the Golden Jubilee Trust which was set up to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. A total of 34 of the fibre glass cows were sold on the Island, and many of them were decorated by children using Manx themes for the artwork and ever since then they have been used for a variety of purposes - including Daisy herself who has raised thousands of pounds for The Children’s Centre.
Juliet Holt, well known on the Island as a charity fundraiser and President of the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association, organised the CowParade auction. She said: “I am delighted to see that Daisy has had a 'facelift' and is now back in her home at the airport. CowParade was a lot of fun and it is wonderful to see so many cows still on display around the Island. The Island was very generous at the CowParade auction and that generosity has helped many young people during the last nine years. Thank you all and keep supporting Daisy.”
With the 10th anniversary of the CowParade auction coming up next year, The Children’s Centre is keen to find out where all of Daisy’s friends are now. If you are the proud owner of a CowParade cow please contact Juana Warburton at The Children’s Centre on juanawarburton@thechildrenscentre.org.im
