Three charities are to benefit from the 2012-2013 mayoral charity appeal led by Douglas Mayor Councillor David Ashford and Mayoress Sylvia Ashford.
The Isle of Man hyperbaric medical facility, Pumps 4 Kids and Dot’s Dream Foundation were named at a reception held at Douglas town hall to launch the appeal.
The appeal is being supported by 3FM, with the broadcaster employing its ‘safe cracker’ promotion at mayoral events throughout the year to help raise funds. Celton Manx is also joining forces with 3FM by donating the prize of a box for 10 guests at West Ham United football ground with a pre-match dinner, a prime view of the match and tour of the ground for whoever ‘cracks’ the safe’s code. Should the safe not be cracked, the prize will be awarded in a prize draw at the conclusion of the 2012-2013 civic year.
The Isle of Man hyperbaric medical facility provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy to divers and a wide range of patients suffering from injuries and chronic medical conditions.
Pumps 4 Kids is an Isle of Man Newspapers/Manx Diabetic Group campaign working to improve the lives of children with type 1 diabetes through pump therapy.
Dot’s Dream Foundation was formed in memory of Dot Pitts, a former Mayor of Douglas and indefatigable fundraiser who died of bowel cancer in November 2010 aged 54. The charity works to raise funds for a range of charitable causes linked to cancer sufferers and other seriously ill individuals.
