Police warn businesses about telephone scam

by isleofman.com 6th August 2012
Businesses are being warned about a telephone scam which involves a bogus caller asking for sponsorship for a drug and alcohol awareness booklet.

The caller poses as a member of staff representing a company called Drug and Alcohol Awareness before then asking for sponsorship for an advisory booklet.

The Drug and Alcohol team, Alcohol Advisory Services and the Drug Advice Service & Helpline have all confirmed that this caller is not representing themselves.

We are urging members of the business community on the Isle Of Man to be vigilant following this telephone scam.  Please stop and think carefully before sending any money or giving your personal details in these sorts of circumstances, and remember, “if it looks too good to be true then it probably is."
