Albany LTC Latest News

by isleofman.com 16th August 2012

Last week’s round of the British Heart Foundation’s series of tournaments was held at Albany and raised a further ?200 for the BHF. The winners were men, Charles Fargher and Graham Bolton and women, Gillian Pearson and Margaret Drake. These qualify for the finals which this year will be held at the Ballaughton Meadows courts on Wednesday 5th September starting at 9.30am. Unfortunately Graham is not available on that date and first reserve Chris Budd will take his place. Spectators are welcome.

Juniors will shortly be receiving details of the club’s winter coaching programme, with squad days and times. Keep a look out for the e-mail and reply early to be sure of a place on the extensive programme.

Fund raising for putting an insulating lining to the indoor court will continue throughout the winter. The committee would like to hear from any member who would be keen to organize an event. These could take any form i.e. a Table Top Sale, Coffee Morning or Evening, Craft Sale, Travel Talk perhaps about the Olympics, music evening.  If you have any ideas please contact Pat Sharp (Tel. 861497) or maybe make a small donation.

There are now a few Albany/Equiom Junior Open 2012 T shirts available for sale. I gather the juniors are all wearing them at coaching and club sessions and they seem to be very popular which is nice for the sponsors Equiom Trust Company Limited. Talking of sponsors, we have room for three or four banners in the indoor court. If any member can recommend a company please contact Pat Sharp for full details on 861497.
