On Sunday afternoon the weather was kind enough to enable the Club to hold the Junior Outdoor Championships at Ronaldsway with sunny conditions and a fresh breeze blowing.
Although there were only two archers in each discipline, there was nevertheless some very competitive action first dozen. However Bradley then found his form and held this for the rest of the round finishing with a score of 486 against Adam’s 420 and giving him the overall championship. Adam took the Under 18 class and Bradley also took the Under 16 class. A good show by the two boys with Bradley’s regained confidence showing in the final score. Unfortunately Charlotte Harris was unable to shoot in the Junior Ladies class due to an injury and opted instead for some R & R on holiday with her family.
In the Compound discipline it was once again the battle of the George sisters. Aalin continued with her consistently high level scoring only allowing younger sister Kirsten to match her score on one of the six dozen ends and therefore taking the Junior Compound Championship with a score of 671 to Kirsten’s 648. Aalin’s groups were so tight in the shorter distance that she suffered from some arrow damage towards the end of the shoot resulting in some necessary equipment maintenance before next week’s Senior Championships.
Five senior archers also shot the Short Metric round with Peter Mumford beating Dave Moore in the Compound class and Karen Lott taking the Recurve first place from Rhys Moore and then Rob Lott.

Next Sunday will be the turn of the Seniors for their Championships when the round will be a full Fita. With some rumbling rumours of a couple of compound archers possibly picking up their recurve bow for the event, it is hoped that there will be competition in all disciplines. As usual the times will be 9.30 am for a 10.30 am start. Anyone who is not shooting the Senior Championships will be welcome to shoot metric rounds in the afternoon session.
