Fourth call-out this month for Peel Lifeboat

by isleofman.com 30th August 2012

At 7.55pm yesterday evening, 29th August, Peel relief lifeboat Mary Margaret was called out for the fourth time in three weeks and the second time in succession to rescue kayakers.

The lifeboat with its volunteer crew under the command of Paul Cain was launched to assist three kayaks which were in difficulty near Glen Maye on the West coast of the Isle of Man.

The three kayaker’s two 17 year old men and an 18 year old girl who were well equipped were caught out with a sudden change in wind direction and one of them was tipped into the sea out of his kayak. The others tried to assist but all ended up having to take to the cliffs for safety. One of the boats drifted out to sea close but the other two were secured on land.

The lifeboat returned to Peel with the three on board at about 9pm.
