With effect from Monday 3 September 2012 the standard fees payable in respect of applications for Adult and Child passports will be reduced by ?5 and ?3 respectively. The new fees will be:
 
Standard adult 10 year passport - ?72.50
Passport for a child under 16 (valid for 5 years) - ?46.00
 
The total fee payable in respect of all other passport services, including express services, remains unchanged.
 
Senior External Relations Officer Richard Carter said: ‘The reduced fees reflect ongoing developments in passport production, which have brought forward savings in relation to the production of standard adult or child passports. Those savings are being passed on to people who use our standard services.’
 
He added: ‘Continuing developments will see the introduction of a new Isle of Man variant of the British passport in 2013/14. Whilst applications will be made to the Isle of Man Passport Office, in the future passports will be printed at a secure facility in the UK, alongside passports issued to British citizens living throughout the world. 
 
Applicants are reminded not to confirm any travel arrangements involving a journey outside the British Isles unless they hold a valid passport or are certain a new passport can be obtained before their journey commences. 
 
Applicants are also reminded that a passport can be renewed at any time and that any unexpired period of validity, up to a maximum of 9 months, will be added to the new passport.
