Last chance to apply for stand at Businesses Employment and Skills 2012

by isleofman.com 3rd September 2012

Employers have just two more weeks to apply for a stand at Employment and Skills 2012, the Isle of Man’s largest event highlighting work and training opportunities.  It will take place at the Villa Marina, Douglas, on Thursday 22nd November and is jointly hosted by the Departments of Economic Development and Education and Children.  Around 1,000 secondary school students are expected to attend.

This year the event will be welcoming a special guest, John Loughton.  John is a high-profile and experienced youth leader, social entrepreneur, campaigner and public affairs professional with vast experience in his field.  He grew up in Scotland in an area of poverty and high social exclusion and his mission has always been to strive for a fairer world, giving young people a voice in society, social justice and equal opportunities.

Tony Wild MLC, Political Member for the Department of Economic Development with responsibility for Employment and Skills, said:  ‘I met John during a recent Parliamentary visit to Westminster and was very impressed with his engagement with youth and motivational skills.  I am looking forward to meeting with him again and am very pleased that he has agreed to attend Employment and Skills 2012 to talk to the many students and NEETS attending.

‘The closing date for stand applications has been extended to the 14th September and there is still a fortnight for businesses considering applying to submit their applications.’

The exhibition will be open from 9am to 7pm on 22nd November and exhibitors will be required to set up stands between 12 noon and 6pm on Wednesday 21st November. Lunch will be prepared and served by Hospitality and Catering students of the Isle of Man College for ?5 per person for those companies exhibiting.
