Isle of Man and Malta based trust and corporate services provider, Boston, has announced the appointment to the Board of Katherine Ellis as the Group’s Business Development Director. The move complements the recent appointment of Bruce Elliott to the position of Group Commercial Director last month and reflects Boston’s continued commitment to delivering the international high-growth strategy announced by CEO, Greg Ellison, last year.
Katherine is responsible for the continued development of all Boston Group’s business lines in both Malta and the Isle of Man. Having gained extensive experience within the sector for over 15 years, one of Katherine’s initial focus areas as Business Development Director will be on commercial yachting and business aviation.
Katherine was instrumental in the launch of the Isle of Man Commercial Ship Register and the establishment of the Island’s Aircraft Register as an industry consultant, in which capacity she also worked closely with the Isle of Man Government in what is now the Department of Economic Development. Both registers have since gone on to become leading local business institutions and have played a crucial role in positioning the Isle of Man as a world leading centre for enterprise.
Katherine has a wealth of industry knowledge and an international network of contacts, both of which Katherine hopes to bring to the fore at Boston and utilise throughout the formulation of Boston’s new yacht administration services, which are due to be launched at the Monaco Yacht Show later this month. This will see Boston further specialise in its yacht administration offering, providing discreet tax efficient yacht ownership structuring for personal, corporate and family office clients. Katherine will oversee what she describes as a ‘shaking up of the service model’ on the Isle of Man, which will see Boston focus solely on the administration aspect of yachting whilst remaining at the forefront of the industry in terms of both technological infrastructure and client support.
Group CEO Greg Ellison commented on the appointment: “Katherine’s new position as Business Development Director represents a significant appointment for Boston Group. We are committed to employing the best people in the industry and as a key figure in the establishment of both registers; a member of the Shipping Association, representative member of the Yacht Forum and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Katherine is a perfect example of this. As is evidenced by recent celebrations of the Aircraft Registry’s 500th aircraft, the Isle of Man is quickly becoming a global hub for business and warrants an increasingly international focus when it comes to business development. With her years of experience in this area, Katherine is ideally equipped with the skills and support network necessary to operate in this international capacity and to provide the right structures for our clients regardless of jurisdiction. I believe Katherine to be an outstanding asset to both Boston and ‘Isle of Man plc.’ and know she will be a great success with us in the future.”
Katherine also commented on the appointment: “I am extremely happy with my appointment here at Boston and very excited to launch straight into the development of a new range of services. My position at Boston gives me the perfect opportunity to capitalise upon what I have learned over the years, to show a united front with the rest of the Island’s industry and to help raise the profile of the Isle of Man as a jurisdiction.”
