On Saturday 8th September, why not come on down to The Strand Shopping Centre and show your support for the staff of Nedgroup Investments (IOM) Ltd and volunteers supporting SKILS (Skills for Independent Living Scheme charity no. 1077), a currently little known, local charity benefitting local residents.
During the course of the day the staff and volunteers will shed sweat and tears in a effort to walk or run 80 exhausting miles on treadmills donated for the day by Fit4Hire (www.Fit4Hire.com). Why 80 miles?...the distance as the crow flies to Myerscough College in Preston (www.myerscough.ac.uk).
Myerscough plays a significant role in the charity’s goals which aims to further the educational needs of those with learning difficulties in the Isle of Man between the ages of 18 and 25 by assisting suitable candidates to realise their full potential and gain independent living skills.
SKILS was created by Georgie Revill, a parent of one of a group of students who have benefitted enormously from attending Myerscough College.
Nedgroup, part of the Nedbank Group, one of the largest banking institutions in South Africa is 53% owned by the FTSE listed Old Mutual Plc, provide fundraising support to the charity and have to date raised over ?4000
Volunteers will be available to talk to, balloons for the kids and a fabulous 3 course meal for two, including a carafe of house wine, donated by local restaurant 14 North will be raffled off at the end of the day.
Every penny raised from this event will benefit the Isle of Man students as there are no administration costs associated with the charity.
