by isleofman.com 7th September 2012

Glenn Cassidy and Phillip Dearden from PKF Isle of Man will give the next ICSA presentation on Tuesday 25 September. The event, sponsored by PKF, is titled “The Shock for Non-Resident Owners of UK Residential Property”.

The talk will focus on the impact of the dramatic new UK Tax changes for expensive UK residential properties.  This is of particular interest to Isle of Man professional advisors and administrators as traditionally UK property owned by non-UK residents and UK resident and non-UK domiciled individuals has been held through offshore structures which will be affected by the current and proposed changes.

The main areas of discussion are:

• The increased rate of UK Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and the newly introduced rate of UK SDLT for acquisitions of residential UK land and property by certain “non-natural persons”
• The proposed UK Annual Charge for certain residential properties which are held by “non-natural persons”
• The proposed UK Capital Gains Tax for residential property held in offshore structures
