Team Oscar Racing receives TT Marshals' Best Newcomer Award

by isleofman.com 10th September 2012

Debbie Barron and Rob Lunt were thrilled to receive the TT Marshals Association TT Sidecar Newcomers Award 2012.

As Terry Holmes, Chairman of the TT Marshals Association, presented the award at the Southern 100 in July, a tearful Debbie explained why this particular award meant so much to her.  “Team Oscar Racing is all about the people who support us and make up the ‘team’.  Having been a marshal myself for 22 years, it means such a lot to me to have won this award, voted for by the Marshals around the course during the TT fortnight.  I’m still pinching myself that we were able to achieve the dream of completing a sidecar race in the TT and these trophies will look fantastic next to our TT medals.”

Team Oscar Racing has put in a busy summer since TT and Debbie has now achieved five of the six competition signatures she needs to compete in next year’s TT, including racing in the Southern 100, Jurby and Cadwell Park.  Not content with making history by being the first Manx-born woman to drive in the TT Sidecars competition, she is determined that they will not only compete in 2013, but also significantly improve on the 2012 times.

Debbie is keen to acknowledge that the support from people who contributed towards Team Oscar Racing making it to the TT have made her childhood dream possible.  “We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all our sponsors for 2012 who made the dream a reality.  Thanks to Swift Motors, Castlecutz Hairdressers, Steam Packet Co,, Stephen Cowin, Kaneens Filling Station, Kevin Ashworth Timber, Dale and Colvin, Tony Corlett, Manx Pirates, Edwin Dennis Signs, Paul Tipler, The Queens Laxey, Miss Emily, Helen Lunt, Anthea Matthewman, Paul Wilson, Roy Lyons, Stuart Angus, Marshals Sulby Bridge, Ken Williams, Aiden and Glen Forbes, Kevin and Elizabeth Moggridge, Wooden Spoons (IOM) Charity, Arthur Barron, Diccen & David and Helen Sargent, Beryl and Davey, Heather Paisley, David Mahon, Denise and family of Brayhill, Cal Brown and family, Angela Katz and family, Julie Canipa, Janet Jones, Slick Performance, Andy from Coca Cola, Dave Redmanyne, Ann Redner, Sandra and Charlie Murray.
