The Islands "Shooting Star" Sisters, Kirsten and Aalin George travelled to Meriden Central England over the weekend.
With so much disappointment of bad weather and cancelled tournaments due to flooded fields this seaon they both required strong finishes to get into the UK rankings.
The tournament was to be a double FITA round (36 arrows shot at 4 distances 70m, 60m, 50m and 30m each day) 288 arrows in total.
At the end of the first distance the duo easily dominated the Juniors and were equal first overall having recorded the exact same score. At the close of the second distance they lay in second and third overall Aalin holding just a 3 point margin over her younger sibling. A few points dropped by each at the third distance moved them into third and fifth overall respectivly. A solid 350/360 at 30m saw Aalin cement her third position overall finishing score 1350 also enabling her to retain her Grand Master Status. Kirsten dropped a few more points but recorded a massive PB 25 points higher than before at 1329, second junior ninth overall.
Day two was largely a repeat of day one with Kirsten just edging Aalin at 70m, matching her at 60m, a great finish from Kirsten saw her add yet another point to her PB at 1330 with Aalin finishing on 1347.
Final positions Aalin first Junior third overall 1350+1347=2697 PB, Kirsten second Junior seventh overall 1329+1330=2659 PB.
With the Junior World Championships in China next Summer the Isle of Man has a great chance of having 2 of the 3 places available in the cadet ladies team. Well done girls!
