The organisers of this year’s revamped Rally Isle of Man are looking for people who want to be involved in what’s tipped to be one of the most exciting motorsport events of the year.
Entering what will be its 49th year, Rally Isle of Man, powered by Microgaming, will take place from Thursday 20th September to Saturday 22nd September 2012, covering the classic stages as well as introducing many new elements and exciting variations on the traditional rally.
The event will open at 7pm on the Thursday night with a thrilling spectator-orientated stage along Douglas Promenade, in which the cars and crews will be pitched in a head-to-head race along the seafront. Friday’s action will culminate with four exciting night stages centered round Castletown, the Island’s ancient capital, with Saturday seeing the crews tackle 26 exhilarating stages before the event comes to a close.
Over the course of the three-day event, an army of marshals is needed to ensure the event is a success. Marshals are a vital ingredient in any volunteer-led event and anyone who has an interest in rallying or just wants to be involved and help ensure the Isle of Man’s reputation to stage magnificent motorsport events continues, is urged to become a marshal.
David Thompson, Chief Marshal for Rally Isle of Man said: “Nothing brings you closer to the action than when you are a marshal. Witness first-hand the thrills and spills of this magnificent event which will see more than 70 crews challenging some of the toughest stages in the British Isles. We value any time you can lend us whether it be a morning, an afternoon or evening, to help ensure this event is well and truly placed back on the rally calendar.”
