Ramsey Town Commissioners urge public to respond to welfare reform consultation

by isleofman.com 13th September 2012

The chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners is encouraging people to respond to the government’s social care consultation ‘What future do you want?’

Captain Nigel Malpass said: ‘Against a background of increasing pressures on the public purse and changing attitudes to social care, this public consultation is set to prompt one of the most important debates of our time.

‘The Commissioners will be submitting their collective response and, in the spirit of democracy in action, individual members will also be expressing their views.

’Welfare reform is a community issue that demands a shared community response. To this end I would encourage members of the public to get involved in this debate by taking time to read and reflect on the questions raised and respond by the closing date of noon Monday September 17th 2012.’

Copies of the consultation document are available from Ramsey Town Hall. The document can also be downloaded from the government website, www.gov.im/socialcare/debate. Responses can be submitted online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/iomsocialpolicydebate.
