Albany Lawn Tennis Club Golden party

by isleofman.com 14th September 2012

Last Sunday Albany Lawn Tennis Club held a Golden party to celebrate with Pat and Bryan Sharp their 50 years membership of the club. They came to the Island in 1962 and joined when the club played on hired courts. Over the years they have achieved so much to bring the club to where it is today. It now has three outdoor floodlit courts plus an indoor court  and a lovely clubhouse at Ballaughton Meadows in Douglas. Without them and the dedicated members over the years, it would not be there today.

The party was attended by members, old and new, with the annual Senior/Junior tournament being held in the afternoon (full results in The Courier) a barbeque for the mini and junior members and a buffet in the evening. A raffle for a golden hamper raised ?239 for the club’s development fund. Bryan thanked everyone for the recognition of their 50 years membership, which he and Pat had enjoyed immensely and still do.

Albany always welcomes potential members to join our friendly club, which has very active mini/junior/senior sections and a sociable ladies section which plays on Friday mornings. The club also enters teams in the various IOMLTA leagues and has a resident coach.

For any details contact Jan Gaskill, Membership Secretary on 862144 or our website albanyltc.co.uk.
