MannIN Shorts and Isle of Man Film are delighted to announce yet another film industry guest at the Isle of Man Film Festival, held at the Broadway Cinema this weekend. Screenwriter of The Heart of Me Lucinda Coxon will be available to answer audience questions alongside producer Martin Pope at its special Q&A screening at the Broadway Cinema, on Friday 14th September 7.30pm.
An accomplished playwright, Lucinda also wrote Wild Target starring Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt and Rupert Grint which shot here in 2009. The screenplay for Wild Target was adapted from the 1993 French movie Cible Emouvante.
Christy DeHaven, cofounder of Mannin Shorts, said:
“We are delighted that local filmmakers and enthusiasts are getting access to so much industry knowledge. We welcome Lucinda to the film festival and look forward to the audience Q&A session of The Heart of Me with her and producer Martin Pope after our screening on Friday.”
This adds to an already packed weekend of events, with screenings, workshops, industry guests and the premieres of several high profile, entirely homegrown short films. Also announced this week was the exciting news that actor and filmmaker Raffaello Degruttola (Saving Private Ryan, Quantum of Solace) will be shooting a new scene for his upcoming, much anticipated feature "FLIM..." on the Saturday night of the festival.
"I've been trying to get Lee Boardman in the same room to shoot a scene for FLIM for ages!" Raff explained As the film is about what it takes to make a British film in today's climate through the eyes of Ravi Versami, a wanna be film maker from Mumbai, we thought we would seize the chance at a film festival as we can work it into the story line"
