Fairy tale Princess Belle joined guests at Patchwork Cafe in Port St Mary on Sunday 16th September to bring some magic to Crossroads Care’s fairy tale campaign.
Crossroads Care launched a campaign based on popular fairy tales earlier this year to raise awareness of family and informal carers and the work of the local charity.
The campaign tells us that caring is no fairy tale and that we ought to remember carers through stories from Aladdin, Cinderella, Snow White and Beauty & the Beast.
Guests at the Vintage Tea, where the Disney classic Beauty & the Beast was shown, enjoyed the Cafe’s afternoon tea from the award-winning team and had the chance to meet Belle.
Alex Wilson, Fundraising Co-ordinator for Crossroads Care, said: “When we launched the campaign in July, we hoped the community would get on board and they have. The campaign has been well received to date and we hope this will continue until the end of the year. Patchwork Cafe have been fantastic hosts and the afternoon was enjoyed by all. Special thanks must go to Patchwork and Belle for bringing a smile to children’s and adults’ faces”.
“Whilst the afternoon, like the campaign, was light-hearted, the underlying message is a serious one, which is important to us all. 3 in 5 of us will become a carer at least once so it is important carers are not a forgotten quantity and that we have an appropriate support system in place”.
Campaign materials can be found across the island in Crossroads’ shops, schools, GP surgeries, care centres and libraries. For more information about the campaign or the work of Crossroads Care visit www.crossroadsiom.org.
