Isle of Man Creamery Scoops Three Accolades at The Global Cheese Awards 2012

by isleofman.com 19th September 2012

A fantastic win for Isle of Man Creamery – three accolades were won at this year’s Global Cheese Awards, which were held at the Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show on 8th September 2012.

Isle of Man Creamery’s Garlic & Chive Mature Cheddar won a Gold Award and Hint of Chilli Mature Cheddar won a Bronze Award in the ‘Cheddar Cheese with Savoury Additives’ category.  Our naturally smoked Oak Smoked Mature Cheddar won Silver in the ‘Smoked Cheese – Natural’ category.

Nigel Pooley, Chairman of the Global Cheese Awards Committee said: “The quality of the entries this year has been outstanding.  The marking of some categories has really challenged our judges, which include national food critics as well as specialists from inside the cheese industry.  This has been particularly true in cheddar cheeses.  I think we can honestly say that this has been a vintage year for the Global Cheese Awards.”

Findlay Macleod, Managing Director at Isle of Man Creamery said: “Winning Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards at the Global Cheese Awards is a fantastic achievement for Isle of Man Creamery.  With over 1,200 cheese entries in the Global Cheese Awards this year, this is a true reflection of the skills of our cheesemakers and the dedication of our team here at the Creamery”.

The Global Cheese Awards have been well known for 150 years as the "Frome Cheese Show" and is one of the oldest cheese shows in Britain.
