Phase 3 of Major Roadworks in Onchan Village

by isleofman.com 24th September 2012
The Department of Infrastructure advises that the roadworks are running to time and budget and that phase 3 of the work will commence in Onchan on Thursday 27th September 2012, with Main Road, Onchan closed to through traffic between Avondale Road and Summerhill Road Roundabout.

These works will include footway reconstruction and ducting installation for the new traffic signals and are expected to last for 5 weeks.  During this period pedestrian access will be maintained to all businesses and properties.  Buses travelling towards Ramsey will stop either on Royal Avenue (Auburn Road junction) or Governors Road (Queens Road junction); buses travelling towards Douglas via Bucks Road will stop at either Royal Avenue (Royal Court Shelter) or Governors Road (Coutts lay-by); and buses travelling towards Douglas via Promenades will stop at Royal Avenue (Royal Court Shelter).  All buses will be using Alberta Drive as the main link between Governor’s Road and Whitebridge Road.  A local diversion will be signed for traffic travelling to local businesses and through traffic is encouraged to divert via King Edward Road or the Mountain Road to help avoid traffic delays.

It is planned to have the overall scheme completed by late December 2012.

The Department would like to thank you in advance for your patience and co-operation.  If you have any concerns or queries regarding the work, please phone 850000.
