New retail customer service training commencing in October

by isleofman.com 25th September 2012

A new customer service training course, specifically developed for the local retail sector, is to commence in October.  The course has been established to encourage and support the customer service training requirements of retailers on the Island and their staff.

The Department of Economic Development is supporting the initiative, which has been created by the Isle of Man College in conjunction with local retailers to specifically meet the needs of the retail sector.

The programme has been devised to accommodate the retailer’s busy schedule, each session being three hours in duration and held at the Isle of Man College of Further and Higher Education, Nunnery Site from Monday 8th October 2012. For further information, dates and times please email carole.collister@college.doe.gov.im telephone 648206.

The training course aims to introduce a greater understanding of developing effective customer care, customer and brand perception as well as identifying the strengths and weaknesses within the business and market today. Those employed within the retail sector are invited to register themselves and employees of any level.  Initially the cost for the course will be covered by the DED for a period of 12 months.

Chair of the Retail Strategy Committee, Laurence Skelly MHK, commented:
‘A pilot session held in July was well received and it is hoped that many of our local retailers will take the opportunity to offer their staff places on this free customer service course.’

‘We have aimed to make the course as accessible as possible. The course content has been designed in conjunction with representatives of the retail sector and the times of the course sessions enable a great deal of flexibility for those wishing to undertake it.’
