RNLI Douglas receive donation from Young Farmers

by isleofman.com 1st October 2012

Members of the Eastern Young Farmers represented the Isle of Man Federation of Young Farmers on Thursday evening (27 September) when they visited Douglas RNLI lifeboat station and presented the Branch with a cheque for ?400.

Douglas RNLI lifeboat Operations Manager, Mary Corran, received the cheque from Jake Phair, Fiona Leece, and Vicky Hargreaves of the Eastern Young Farmers. The money was raised for the RNLI charity in “the Lucky Programme Draw” at the 41st Young Farmers Concert held at the Gaiety Theatre earlier in the year.

In conversation with the young farmers it was discovered that both Jake and Fiona had family connections with Douglas RNLI. Jake’s Grandfather, the late Mr. Alfie Moore, and Fiona’s Father, the late Mr. James Coulson, had both been volunteer crew members at Douglas RNLI, each having served some 20 years on the Colby Cubbin and Sir William Hillary respectively.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer with the RNLI as lifeboat crew, shore helper, or fundraiser should contact their nearest lifeboat station.
