Police are appealing for help regarding a road traffic collision which occurred on Sunday the 30th of September 2012 at approximately 11:20am on Palace Road, Douglas. At this time a woman was placing her 6 year old grandson into the rear seat of her car, a dark coloured Mercedes. She was standing in the road with the rear door open. A small grey coloured car drove past and collided with the open door, missing the woman and her grandson by inches. Damage was caused to the open door when the grey car collided with it. Despite the potential serious consequences of the collision the driver of the grey car didn’t stop to see if the woman or her grandson were injured. PC Jonathan Cretney stated, “This collision could have had fatal consequences and the driver of the grey car has left the scene leaving his wing mirror behind. It was only luck that no one was seriously hurt”.
Anyone who witnessed this collision or has any information about the identity of the driver of the grey car is urged to contact PC Jonathan Cretney at Lord Street Police Station direct on 631212 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
