Manx2.com supports Manx National Heritage & York Archaelogical Trust link

by isleofman.com 5th October 2012

Manx2.com is showing its support for the recent reciprocal agreement between Manx National Heritage and the York Archaeological Trust by offering special fares to Leeds Bradford for the Friends of Manx National Heritage (FMNH).

Following the signing of the agreement, FMNH members who are resident in the Isle of Man will be able to use their membership cards to visit York Archaeological Trust historic sites such as the Jorvik Viking Centre, Jorvik Dig, Huntgate Dig and Barley Hall.

Visitors to York will be able to enjoy Jorvik’s latest exhibition ‘Valhalla: Examining Viking Burials in the British Isles’, which is on display until 5 November 2012 and features artefacts from excavations in both York and the Isle of Man.

In turn, York Archaeological Trust members will be able to use theirs at any Manx National Heritage site on the Island, including the Great Laxey Wheel, Castle Rushen, Peel Castle and Rushen Abbey.

Nicola Pemberton, Admin & Development Officer of FMNH, said: “We were delighted to announce the reciprocal agreement earlier this month, particularly as Manx National Heritage and York Archaeological Trust have been working so closely together, and are very appreciative of Manx2.com’s flights offer. FMNH members are excited about exploring the range of York Archeological Trust’s sites and we look forward to welcoming York visitors to the Island.”

David Buck, Managing Director, Manx2.com “As an ongoing Corporate Member of FMNH we have an excellent relationship with the Friends and have already collaborated on special flights to Anglesey earlier this year. We are delighted to lend our support to this new agreement.”
