The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee, a Standing Committee of Tynwald, has been asked by 10 Members of Tynwald to consider if the new pre-school education policy of the Department of Education and Children is value for money and also if it meets educational needs.
The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee intends to hear evidence from the persons listed below on Tuesday 9th October 2012 at the times shown in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. The evidence will be taken in public. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
10.30 am - Council of Ministers Working Group on pre-school education: Hon Phil Gawne MHK, Mr Peter Karran MHK and Hon Chris Robertshaw MHK
11.30 am - Mr John Houghton MHK, former Member of the Department of Education and Children
The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee, a Standing Committee of Tynwald, has already heard evidence on this matter on 2nd May, 21st June and 28th June 2012.
On 2nd May the Committee held a general evidence session with the then Minister for Education and Children and senior officers in which pre-school education was one of the subjects touched on.
On 21st June the Committee heard from former DEC Members Mr Dudley Butt MLC and Mr Zac Hall MLC.
On 28th June the Committee heard from Mrs Amy Burns and Mrs Lisa Morris.
