Eighteen corporate teams battling it out to win The Children’s Centre’s Adventure Team Challenge had to make rockets as part of a series of physical and mental tests. The 2012 challenge, which was sponsored by PDMS and held on October 6 in Peel, marked 10 years of the event which since it began has raised ?110,000 for The Children’s Centre.

The tasks the teams faced included constructing rafts from recycled material, building fully functional rockets, abseiling and testing their skills as a circus performer. A team from Dandara won with Zurich close behind in second and defending champions Baker Tilly third. Mark Eastham, Fundraising Co-ordinator at The Children’s Centre, thanked everyone who supported the Adventure Team Challenge and added:

“The event this year raised more than ?12,000 and thanks to the kind sponsorship form PDMS every penny raised will go directly to supporting the work The Children’s Centre does with children and families across the Island.

The winning team was presented with a trophy by Bruce McGregor, Director at PDMS. He said:

“This is the third year that PDMS has sponsored the Adventure Team Challenge and we are delighted that this year’s event has yet again been such a major success.  With the usual fantastic planning and organisation from The Children’s Centre, combined with record numbers of teams taking part, it all means that even more funds have been raised for such a worthy cause.”
