The legendary Ruby Wax is bringing her one-woman show Ruby Wax – Out of Her Mind! - to the Gaiety Theatre in April next year to help raise funds for Junior Achievement Isle of Man.
The US-born comedienne, actress and leadership skills guru’s stage show, in the intimate surroundings of the Gaiety Theatre, will be a potent mix of her acerbic, engagingly frank and comedic take on life, from achieving the perfect career to the perfect body and coping with the ups and downs of family life, in short, the toxins of our time. She will also share her personal and often achingly funny experiences of coping with depression even though she ‘had it all’ - great career, dream house, husband and kids - and will touch on her campaign to change public attitudes to mental health.
The show will be in two parts: Ruby Wax performing her stand-up routine first then, in the second half, with 3FM’s Ron Berry acting as MC, inviting questions from members of the audience.
Junior Achievement’s chief executive Sue Cook said: ‘Ruby’s show veers from the deliriously dippy to the slightly dark, but always delivered with her signature incisive sense of humour and faultless comedic timing.
‘Ruby’s all about communication, connecting with, inspiring and motivating people. That’s very much at the heart of what we and our volunteer business advisers do when we engage with young people in the classroom to equip with them with entrepreneurial skills for the future, so this show promises to appeal on so many different levels.’
Ruby’s straight-talking show is on Friday April 12th 2013. Tickets for the show, which is being supported by 3FM, are ?25 per person and available from October 22nd at the Villa Marina box office, www.villagaiety.com. Or call 600555.
