Police are continuing to investigate the multiple offences of criminal damage which were caused to a significant number of motor vehicles in the South of the Island as a result of a corrosive material having been applied to them during the evening of Sunday 7th October 2012.
Detective Sergeant Neil Craig from the Police’s Criminal Investigation Department said, “We are continuing to make further enquiries, in what is still very much a live investigation with a number of positive lines of enquiry. It is as part of these enquiries that I am extremely keen to speak to anyone who may not as yet have reported their vehicle as having been damaged. An earlier press release appealing for the driver or anyone knowing the details of the silver vehicle that turned in the Surby junction has so far not resulted in anyone coming forward and I would ask that if you know anything about this vehicle you contact the Police so it can be eliminated from our enquiries.
In addition to wishing to take this opportunity in reminding people to be vigilant to anything which they may perceive to be suspicious, I would again like to make an appeal to anyone who may have any information or knowledge about these damages, no matter how small they may feel this is, to contact my colleagues at Port Erin Police station on 832222, Castletown Police Station on 822222, Police Headquarters on 631212 or alternatively information can also be given about this, or any other crime, anonymously via Crimestoppers which is an organisation unconnected to the police, on 0800 555 111.
Due to the unprecedented nature of what has occurred, Crimestoppers have offered a ?1000 reward which may be payable as a result of your information, should it prove to assist in the apprehension and subsequent conviction of those responsible for having caused these damages.”
