by isleofman.com 23rd October 2012

Manx2.com is celebrating the success of its Isle of Man Travel Agents event, held recently at the Claremont Hotel in Douglas.

Representatives from a number of Isle of Man and UK travel and destination companies attended the event to learn more about Manx2.com and their route offerings, in particular Manx2.com’s latest route offering launched earlier this year, London Oxford, and were given presentations covering London Oxford Airport, Blenheim Palace and leading hotels in the area including the Swan & Minster Mill Hotel, the Feathers Hotel – Woodstock and the Holt Hotel.

David Buck, Manx2.com Managing Director said: ‘Regular dialogue with Island travel agents is key to our business and an invaluable feedback channel. It was good to meet with such a range of strategic partners and was a perfect opportunity to showcase London Oxford Airport and all that the area has to offer. I would also like to give a big thanks to Mark Wilson - Claremont Hotel, Douglas for delivering a truly great event venue.’

Geoff Corkish MHK, Tourism Member of the Department of Economic Development also addressed the audience: ‘When it comes to tourism and encouraging visitors to the Island, events such as these are incredibly important for furthering our links with UK travel companies, and it is great to see everybody at Manx2.com being so proactive in this area.

‘People visit the Isle of Man for a number of reasons, such as leisure and business trips, short breaks, or for adventurous holidays to partake in the extreme sports on offer here.  The Island’s tourism industry is thriving at present, and investments have led to an upsurge in new hotels and tourism related businesses being in the pipeline, so it is wonderful that Manx2.com are helping to promote the Isle of Man and actively involve other businesses.’

As well as a range of presentations, travel agents at the event had the opportunity to win a trip to Oxford and attend a James Bond-themed event at the marvellous Blenheim Palace.

Raymond Barry, of Elite Voyages in Peel, was the lucky winner and will be have the opportunity to live like 007 for a day with a ride in a helicopter, give a ‘Bond car’ a test drive and dodge radar beams in a diamond recovery mission, before enjoying an evening at the Feathers Hotel.

Fares to London Oxford start from ?49.95 one-way including taxes, with no credit card charges or booking fees to pay and an allowance of up to 10kg for hand luggage. To book go to www.manx2.com.
