Mountain Road to close for two days next week

by isleofman.com 7th November 2012

The Department of Infrastructure is intending to close the Mountain Road next week for two days whilst essential maintenance work is carried out.

The  two day closure will take place on Monday and Tuesday, 12 and 13 November with the option of closing on other days instead if bad weather does not allow the work to proceed on either of those days.

The times of the closure are from 9.30 am until 4.30 pm on each day.

The work to be carried out includes rebuilding a parapet wall on the Mountain Mile, cleaning out ditches where water is coming onto the road and patching the road where potholes are forming.  All of these works involve having men and vehicles on the carriageway, in some places where the road is at its narrowest.   The Department has to take steps to safeguard its workforce and the public, and the safest way is to close the road.

The Department would like to thank members of the public for their understanding in this matter.
