Operation Christmas Child

by isleofman.com 20th November 2012

Donna Hewitt and Wendy Oliver from the Capital International Group wanted to make Christmas special this year for needy children around the world by taking part in ‘Operation Christmas Child’.

Samaritan's Purse (the charity behind Operation Christmas Child) seeks to give those that it the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful time at Christmas.

The idea behind this scheme, launched in schools throughout the UK, is to give those who grow up in relative wealth the opportunity to participate in selfless giving and show compassion to others. This is a powerful message for children; as they have the chance to learn these values at school and forms part of a positive education that welcomes diversity.

Operation Christmas Child’ involves putting together gift-filled shoeboxes with educational supplies, toys, hygiene items and other useful items as well as a few luxuries. Next year Donna and Wendy aim to double the number of boxes made, for what they believe is a fantastic cause that provides joy to children with little and spreads Christmas spirit around the world.

Motivated by their efforts, colleagues within the Group also contributed to the cause by donating a vast array of items to fill the boxes.

The Capital International Group through its staff, families and friends can make a difference and wishes everyone, wherever they are, a very Merry Christmas.
