Lifeboat aid for Beach Buddies

by isleofman.com 30th November 2012
For the first time, Beach Buddies will be joined by the RNLI to help clear the beaches of the Isle of Man, when they join in a Big Team cleaning session at Port St Mary this coming Sunday morning.

Port St Mary Lifeboat has offer
ed to help Beach Buddies remove the bin bags of rubbish to avoid volunteers having to carry the bags up the steep path back to the road.

"This is brilliant," said Bill Dale of Beach Buddies. "Disposing of the rubbish after every cleaning session is always a problem, and the steep pathway to Perwick was always going to be a difficult, so when the lads at Port St Mary lifeboat offered to help it was just what we needed."

Bags of rubbish will be collected from the beach by the lifeboat crew on Sunday morning, where the session starts at 10.30am, meeting at the Kallow Point car park (alongside to the Mona's Queen memorial).

Beach Buddies provides bin bags, litterpickers and gloves and arranges for the disposal of the litter collected (but this time with the invaluable assistance of PSM Lifeboat). Volunteers are asked to wear decent walking boots.
