The AFD Group’s annual Charity Evening takes place tonight, Tuesday 4th November, at Ramsey Town Hall – and over a hundred representatives of charities, AFD Staff and invited guests are expected to attend.
“Charities in the British Isles have recently reported a 20% downturn in giving – yet in this time of economic turmoil, even greater needs exist. Everyone at AFD is thrilled to be able to help so many charities to respond to these great needs” said David Dorricott, AFD’s Managing Director.
Over 50 Charities have been nominated by AFD’s staff members to share over ?250,000 of donations from the company, and AFD’s staff, their invited guests and VIPs will hear short presentations on the work undertaken by three of the charities represented.
David continued “It is not just about money. It is really heartening to note that several staff nominations have been to charities that they themselves contribute time, energy and money to personally. Our team are really special people – who have made us into the world-class organisation we are, and have delivered the success we share.”
AFD has a core objective: “To generate profits and to use them creatively in the relief of suffering, the improvement of society and furtherance of the Christian gospel.” Each member of AFD’s staff has the opportunity to nominate a charity to receive a donation from the company.
In addition, during 2012 AFD has been able to respond to several UK and Isle of Man charities who were suffering severe problems through shortage of funding – and for emergency aid.
Fellow Director Alison Dorricott continued: “Although there’s so much bad news around, AFD is celebrating its best ever financial results, so we have lots to be thankful for.”
“Christmas Time is for us a joyful celebration of God’s special gift to mankind. Our privilege of making a real difference to others through our partnership with these Charities is a great thrill for us”.
