A student at the Queen Elizabeth High II School in Peel has achieved the rare distinction of a 100% mark in her GCSE mathematics examination, to win the annual Nationwide International award.
Lauren Blayney, who lives in Crosby, scored a perfect 300 out of 300 to be the top GCSE maths student amongst last year’s QE2 students. Head of Maths Will Wood described the achievement as “exceptional”.
Lauren, 17, has now started her advanced level studies and has moved to King William’s College to study the IB course, in the hope that she may achieve sufficiently high quality qualifications to attend Oxford or Cambridge.
With both her parents - Michael and Catherine - having followed careers in medicine, Lauren has the ambition to eventually follow in their footsteps.
Lauren received the Nationwide International trophy from senior sales and marketing manager Seamus Byrne and marketing executive Amanda Park at the company’s offices.
In addition, she also received a cash donation which has been placed in a new Nationwide International savings account.
