The Isle of Man’s fastest growing football sector has secured its first ever sponsor.
Wealth management and financial planning specialist, Investasure, has pledged its support to the ‘Investasure Development Group’ which grows the footballing skills of around 400 boys and girls aged nine and under across the Island. Currently there are 16 ‘Under 7’ teams and 34 ‘Under 9’ teams, although this number is increasing monthly.
Players currently play every other Sunday morning at the new Bemahague School in Onchan; in January 2013 they will start to play on a weekly basis.
The Investasure Development Group not only allows players to improve their football skills and co-ordination, but also helps them to develop vital social, fitness, teamwork and confidence skills. It was set up in 2012 to meet the huge demand across the Isle of Man for dedicated junior football coaching for children aged nine and under.
Investasure Director, Martin Corkish, commented: ”Since becoming one of coaches at Ayre this year and with fond memories of my own junior football days, when the opportunity to sponsor the Investasure Development Group arose, it was an easy decision to say ‘yes’. Football is a sport which encourages children to work together as a team and have fun, and instills in them some really important life skills. I am really delighted that Investasure will be able to help so many children from across the Isle of Man to develop as individuals and look forward to seeing the sector growing in years to come.”
Chairman of the Isle of Man Junior Football Association, Brian Callow, commented: “The standard of football across the Island is at an all-time high, and if we are to maintain this we must begin to train children from a young age. The Investasure Development Group will ensure this happens, and will provide a structured yet fun environment where youngsters can spend their time learning football from qualified coaches. This is a very exciting development I would like to personally thank Martin Corkish and Investasure for their support.”
