by isleofman.com 4th December 2012

Peel RNLI held their main annual fund raising Wine and Savouries Evening on Friday, 30th November, at Peel Golf Club helped by Rachel Harrop who was rescued in a kayak recovery earlier in the year.

Rachel and two young men were rescued by the Peel volunteer crew in August and said they would like to help fundraise as a form of thank you. Unfortunately the young men were unable to attend but Rachel brought along two of her friends to assist Natalie O’Neill and Alice Lawrence. The girls helped the volunteers of the ladies guild and other station members to raise the magnificent sum of almost ?4000.

The ladies provided a wonderful supper and branch chairman Stewart Blackley sponsored the wine. The Steam Packet, Shoprite, City Butchers and Davisons Ice cream were amongst the sponsors of the main event of the evening an auction carried out by Malcolm Kelly with the three girls acting as runners. Paddy Kelly ladies guild chairlady thanked all who had helped on the night to raise such a fine sum to help maintain the RNLI voluntary service.
