Christmas Drink Drive campaign launched

by isleofman.com 28th November 2012

This year's Christmas anti-drink drive campaign was launched this morning (Wed)

The 2012 initiative repeats last year's "specials board" concept which authorities say was a success.

Posters in the style of a pub blackboard highlight the dangers and consequences of drink driving, which include a minimum 12 month driving ban and a fine of up to ?5,000 and criminal record.

Infrastructure Minister David Cretney says drinking and driving isn't acceptable, the risks aren't worth it and there are plenty of alternative ways to get home.

He admits that the prices of soft drinks in pubs are often perceived as being very high, but he says many landlords do make an effort to address this over the festive season . . .
