Douglas Mayor Councillor David Ashford hosted a reception at the town hall at which the South Douglas Live at Home scheme was launched, bringing the number of schemes across the island to six.

The Mayor, who serves as the scheme’s treasurer, was joined by scheme chairman David Cretney MHK, who praised the Council for its commitment to providing more public sector housing in South Douglas, South Douglas scheme manager Jan Farrell, committee members, volunteers and supporters.

Live at Home is a third sector and government partnership, a befriending service providing support services for older people to help them lead independent, active and fulfilled lives.

The South Douglas scheme joins the Onchan, Laxey and Lonan, Western, Northern and North Douglas schemes.
