On Friday 30th November at 6.00 pm the Ballakermeen High School Association annual Christmas market is taking place in the ‘Balladome’, a large temporary building behind the Sixth-form Centre. Dozens of stalls will be selling a wide variety of seasonal goodies. The market is one of Ballakermeen’s most important annual events and raises much- needed money for the school.
Head teacher Adrianne Burnett promises a fun-filled night:
‘Our Christmas market is always popular and this year, I am sure, will be no exception. There will be lots of stalls, entertainment, food, cakes and of course our famous hampers. Money raised is invested into the school and ensures the school is well-resourced. Students, parents and members of the general public are all welcome. Also, keep a look out for the house stalls. They will be raising money for their selected charities and will be offering lots of bargains and surprises. It’s set to be a fantastic event and I look forward to seeing you there.’
Money raised at the Christmas market goes to BHSA, the school parents’ association. Staff and students are then able to ask BHSA for funding for projects. The school association has previously paid for display screens, smart boards, books, newspapers, new laptops and other study aids. The five school ‘houses’ will also have stalls at the Christmas market, which will raise money for their chosen charities.
