The Department of Social Care has today published its findings from the Proposed Fees for Regulated Services Consultation, which closed on 28 September 2012.

The consultation sought views on the proposed fees for regulating care services on the Island in line with the forthcoming new Regulation of Care Bill. This will result in an increased number of social care and non–NHS care services being regulated and will require the Department to implement a new fee structure and fee collection process.
Various options were considered by the Department and the proposed structure set out in the consultation document was put forward because it encompasses a set of clear principles, provides a fair framework of fees to all care service providers, and obtains a realistic percentage of cost recovery to support the cost to Government of regulation.
Minister of Social Care Hon Chris Robertshaw MHK said:
“The new Regulation of Care Bill that my Department is currently taking through Tynwald will mean an increased number of both social care and non NHS care services being regulated and means that we had to look again at our current fee structure. I wanted to give businesses an early opportunity to comment on the proposed fees and I would like to thank everyone that responded.”
Any new fees will not be implemented until the new Regulation of Care Bill is approved by Tynwald and comes into operation and the Department will ensure that it continues to engage with stakeholders to keep them updated on progress.
