Benn enthralls Manx audience

by isleofman.com 22nd November 2012

An audience of 500 enjoyed an evening of political insights and reminiscences with a giant of the labour movement Tony Benn at the Gaiety Theatre, Wednesday 21.

The 87-year old former MP and lifelong political activist was interviewed on stage about the highlights of his political career, before a lively question-and-answer session with the audience.

Topics ranged from his views on current problems in the middle east to nuclear disarmament and the UK coalition government.

Mr Benn's visit was organised by the Isle of Man Sporting and Dining Club and sponsored by Appleby.

Tony Benn was asked for his views on the Island, a crown dependency and low tax jurisdiction:

Mr Benn will be a guest in the next series of Geraldine Jamieson interviews starting on Tuesday 11 December.
