Appleby Donation Supports Island’s Junior Football

by isleofman.com 21st November 2012

The Appleby Charitable Foundation has made a donation to the Isle of Man Football Association (“IOM FA”) to support the development of junior league football on the Island. The much needed funds will be used to support the Isle of Man under 18 national team and the Isle of Man 15-17 League, involving over 300 young football players on the Island.

Frank Stennett, IOM FA Chief Executive Officer commented “We have a long relationship with Appleby who have been most supportive of Manx grassroots football for some time. The 15 to 17 League really is an important area of our football pyramid and to receive support for this league is so important, as the players involved represent the future of the local game here on the Isle of Man.” He continued, “The support of the Under 18’s side allows the players and management team to further develop their plans for future training and gives us the opportunity to arrange games against off Island opposition to determine how we are progressing in this vital area of Representative football. I would like to thank everyone concerned at Appleby for their kind support with regards to this new arrangement.”

Simon Cain, Partner at Appleby Isle of Man and member of the firm’s Corporate Responsibility Committee commented: “We are pleased to support the Isle of Man FA in their development of youth football which plays an important role in the local community. The sport helps to develop and foster young minds and we are fortunate on the Isle of Man to have such great facilities to do this.” He continued, “The new Isle of Man under 18 team kit looks fantastic and on behalf of Appleby I would like to wish all of the youth teams the best of luck with the remainder of the season.”

Appleby’s partnership with the IOMFA forms part of a larger initiative by the law firm to focus its commitment to charitable causes on the Island through a newly launched Corporate Responsibility Strategy, centred on youth, education and sport. Over the coming months the firm will pledge financial and resource support through the Appleby Charitable Foundation to a number of local causes and will commit further funds to its staff and clients to support their fund raising efforts.
