If you’re an estate agent or architect and you registered with the government over the last 20 years, you may be getting some money back.
The Office of Fair Trading says it’s discovered architects and estate agents have been charged too much for their registration.
The problem dates back to 1990, when the then Department of Local Government and the Environment started charging too much.
The correct fees have been collected by the OFT since it took over responsibility for doing so a couple of years ago.
The OFT says all registered architects and estate agents have been paying too much since 1990, and it’s now inviting them to get their money back.
It says it’s been able to trace and contact many professionals already – but it doesn’t have contact details for some people and in some cases, those due refunds may have died.
The Office says anybody who feels they may be due some money back can write to its offices in Lord Street in Douglas with details.
The closing date to get in touch is December 31.
